At UrbanBiker, we believe in the power of electric bikes to transform lives. And not just in terms of mobility.
So, when we learned that the Ronald McDonald House Charities was looking for new ways to support the families staying at its Madrid House, we knew we could contribute. And that’s how this story was born: the story of Berna, a children’s electric bike with a very special mission.
A bike designed to bring back smiles
Berna is our smallest e-bike. It was designed so that boys and girls can enjoy the freedom of moving on two wheels, with just the right amount of help to make the experience fun and less strenuous.
But this time, Berna hasn’t been released to the market.
It has come directly from our factory with a charitable destination: it has been donated to the Ronald McDonald House Charities, where it will be raffled to support the work they do with families who have children undergoing long-term hospital treatment.
What is the Ronald McDonald House in Madrid?
Located next to the Niño Jesús University Children’s Hospital, the Ronald McDonald House in Madrid is a true home away from home for many families who have to travel from other cities for their children to receive medical treatment.
Here they find accommodation, emotional support, play areas, and activities designed to alleviate, even if just a little, the most difficult days.
Since its opening in 2015, the House has welcomed more than 2,000 families, offering them a kind and close environment while they accompany their children through the medical process.
A collaboration that pedals towards something better
The Berna electric bike is a symbolic but powerful way of saying: we are with you.
We want this bike to be an opportunity for joy, connection, and movement. Because sometimes, feeling the wind on your face is all it takes to smile again.
From UrbanBiker, we are grateful to be able to collaborate with an organization that does so much for so many people. And we are committed to continuing to find ways for our bikes not only to help people go further, but also to bring them closer.
