Many people wonder what is the “Walk Mode” on an electric bike. The first thing to know is that all electric bicycles incorporate a “walk mode” or commonly called walk mode. This mode is normally activated from the handlebar control by pressing the Walk button and in some brands, such as UBK Systems, by pressing the “-” button for at least 2 seconds and continuously.
It is important to know that once this button is released the “walk mode” stops working. This is due to its two functionalities.
Do you really know what two functionalities this mode has on an ebike?
- The walk mode will help us move the bike when we get stuck on an uphill due to loss of traction. And another trick: to gain some initial momentum before starting to pedal.
- The walk mode will also help us move the e-bike when we get off and need to move it to climb a steep hill. Or simply when we’re walking with someone, off the bike, and don’t want to drag it. It’s important to note that an e-bike, along with its battery, usually weighs around 20-25 kg, and this mode is very helpful.
